Hi I’m Ellie
I’m an expat coach, fiery Sagittarius and mum to two cheeky French Bulldogs. In my spare time, you’ll find me exploring New York City in search of the perfect negroni.
My passion lies in helping expats and those looking for the courage to take the next step to live in a new city. My intuitive coaching style supports my clients to form beautiful relationships, find their dream job, re-discover themselves and make their new city feel like home. Allowing them to embrace all the joy living abroad can offer. Why? Because I know just how tough it is.
I grew up in Canberra, Australia, the beautiful yet small Australian Capital. I’d always loved travelling and dreamt of living overseas.
After my Mum and I travelled to New York together, I fell head over heels with the energy of the city. I had that knowing pull that this is where I needed to be. I trusted into my intuition, did my research, found a one-year working visa, packed my bags and headed over.
I landed in New York bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, excited to explore all the city had to offer. What I wasn’t expecting was just how hard it was to adjust to life in a new city. I’d travelled solo before, but this was a whole other ball game. I believe that it’s one of the most challenging self-discovery journeys you can go on. I left everything behind and was incredibly lonely as I navigated finding a job, making friends, and figuring out my place within this concrete jungle.
Here’s the thing though, I loved New York so much that I was determined not to head home. I realized that only I could design the life I wanted and that the opportunities were out there, but I needed to go out and find them.
I put myself out there, I talked to strangers and networked like hell, I landed myself a job, made lifelong friends and made it a priority to explore all the city had to offer. I was devastated after a year when my visa expired, and I had to move back to Australia. Yearning for New York, I moved back from Sydney in 2019; I’ve been here ever since, and even though there have been some tough times, I’ve never once regretted my decision.
Upon talking to numerous expats, I realized the immense pressure and struggles that come with moving abroad. That’s when I decided to become an expat coach, so I could support and share my knowledge, helping others make the transition.
